Dissertation research is usually conducted by students in order to draw certain conclusions about the problem they are considering in their dissertations. As a rule, dissertation research may be based on an interview, questionnaire, observations, experiment, accountings and other methods of investigation. Let us dwell upon the most frequently used kinds of dissertation research.
- Interview. Interviews can be conducted with experts or with the participants of certain cases. For example, if you are writing a dissertation about the Second World War, your dissertation research may be based on an interview with the participants, with the victims of fascism oppression, etc. The results of your interview should be stated in your dissertation, formatted in appropriate way, analyzed and certain conclusions should be withdrawn;
- Experiment. If you have any assumptions on a certain topic, you may conduct an experiment and make sure that your assumptions are right. The most important thing is that you should choose the kind of experiment that would be the only applicable to your topic, otherwise, it will fail. In order to choose a suitable kind of experiment to conduct, you may use different workbooks;
- Observations. Observation is more likely to be passive kind of dissertation research, still, sometimes you cannot avoid it. In relation to certain topics observation is the only suitable kind of research. The results of observations should also be stated in your paper and explained in your own words.
These are the most frequently used kinds of dissertation research. Still, before you use any of them, you should be sure that it can be applicable to your topic.
